May 2008
Dear Friends and Fans,
Is it just me? Or are there other people out there who can't
believe it's
nearly May! Normally, we would be up and in full swing on
the Simpsons by
now, but like so many other things in this town, the writer's
strike
pushed back our timetable this year. Have no fear - we're
getting the
contracts taken care of and have a tentative schedule to start
recording,
but it's definitely going to be later than usual.
Now, the writer's strike affected a lot of people in this
town, and I
wouldn't wish another lapse of work like that on anyone but.there
is
always a bright side! For the first time in I don't know how
long, I have
taken an actual vacation.
Now, I travel a lot, but it usually tends to involve work
- a lecture, an
appearance and a quick flight back to make the next recording
- and this
time I got to take a bona-fide hiatus just for me. Man, I'm
lovin' it!
Don't get me wrong - there are still university lectures
to do, recording
for the Replacements, ADR for the Simpsons, but I am so fortunate
to have
a job where I can go to a studio, no matter where in the world
I am and
quite literally "phone it in". How cool is that?
This has also given me
some time to see family (my "folks" live back in
Ohio, and my siblings
range from Oregon to Florida), spend "spring break"
with my son Jack, and
just get some personal R&R time with my sweetie.
When we finalize The Simpsons schedule, it will be back to
business as
usual and trying to juggle it all like a circus performer,
but in the
meantime - I think I've learned how to take some "me"
time, and all I can
say is Whoo Hoo!
Be Happy!
